History/Overview
This is the fourth model year for Alfa Romeo's first SUV, the Stelvio. Taking its name from a mountainous road in Italy, the compact Stelvio is tailored for driving enthusiasts seeking crossover practicality.
What's New / Key Changes from Last Year
For 2020, the Stelvio gets upgraded interior finishes and a redesigned centre console that houses a newly standard 8.8-inch infotainment display. There's also a new laminated windshield Alfa says improves the Stelvio's ambiance.
The Stelvio also now offers the option of an advanced driver assistance system that provides level 2 autonomous driving capability.
Available Trims
Stelvio starts out in a base trim that can be optioned to Sport, Ti, Ti Sport, Ti Lusso, and Quadrifoglio. All but the last one share a 2.0L turbo four-cylinder engine, while the Quadrifoglio is a high-performance variant with a twin-turbo V6.
All-wheel drive and an eight-speed transmission are standard in all Stelvio models.
Standard Features
Base trim includes 18-inch wheels, leather seating, bi-xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, an eight-speaker stereo with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and satellite radio in an 8.8-inch display, rear parking sensors, a 7.0-inch digital driver information display, selectable drive modes, backup camera, and passive keyless entry. Also standard is full-speed forward collision warning.
Ti adds 19-inch wheels, and dark grey oak wood interior trim.
Sport builds on the base car, and gets 19-inch wheels, a sport suspension, gloss black exterior trim, and colour brake calipers.
Ti Sport builds on the Ti model with 20-inch wheels, a sport suspension, aluminum interior accents, and sport seats.
Ti Lusso also builds on the Ti with trim-specific 19-inch wheels, luxury seats, a choice of dark grey oak or light walnut wood interior trim, and a luxury steering wheel.
Finally, the Stevlio Quadrifoglio gets genuine carbon fibre interior trim, Brembo brakes, and the Alfa Romeo DNA drive mode selector.
Key Options
Stelvio's most significant option is the new advanced driver assistance package, which bundles highway and traffic jam assists, traffic sign recognition, lane keep assist, blind spot assist, and driver attention alert.
Fuel Economy
As of this writing, Alfa Romeo hasn't published fuel consumption figures for the 2020 Stelvio, but its estimates should be the same as for the 2019 model. Those are 10.8/8.3 L/100 km (city/highway) for the 2.0L engine, and 14.4/10.4 with the Quadrifoglio's V6.
Competition
Alfa Romeo's key competition for the Stelvio comes from the Porsche Macan, the Jaguar E-Pace, Audi's Q5, the BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz's GLC-Class, the Lincoln Nautilus, Buick's Envision, the Volvo XC60, Acura's RDX, the Lexus NX, and the Infiniti QX50.
